Corona cap sleeve (018)
The corona cap forms the end of an X-ray tube and is used in the food industry for the reliable sterilisation of products. It ensures a radiation-proof and vacuum-tight seal that meets the highest hygiene standards and makes the sterilisation process efficient.
Challenge
In order to achieve perfect vacuum tightness and radiation-proof sealing, the sheet metal must be drawn and punched precisely, without cracks or deformations, while the surface must be absolutely smooth and scratch-free to prevent bacteria accumulation in the sensitive food industry.
Solution
The corona cap is made from high-quality sheet metal, which is first drawn and punched to create the exact shape. The neck is then drawn to create a precise neck structure that optimises vacuum tightness. Finally, the component is trowalised – a special vibratory grinding process – which creates a flawless, hygienic surface without scratches.
