Ring lights (094)
The light ring, which can be spotted at Zurich Airport upon closer inspection, is available in three versions (D 475 mm / 500 mm / 600 mm). An invisible seam is achieved by pressing instead of rolling and welding. The groove ends 1 mm before the outer wall, and the bolts are welded onto a non-planar surface.
Challenge
Manufacturing requires careful work to maintain precise groove spacing and securely attach bolts to uneven surfaces, while maintaining consistent quality across all versions.
Solution
The ring is drawn, stretch pressed and cut off. Then the groove is turned in, the bottom is turned off and the bolts are welded on. Finally, the surface is ground and the whole thing is anodised.
