Intake grille made of deep-drawn perforated plate (002)
The production of a grid-like perforated sheet as a cost-effective series part places high demands on the manufacturing process. The deep drawing process enables precise and economical production, even for medium quantities. However, the challenge lies in the material stress: the base sheet with a thickness of only 1 mm and the close arrangement of small holes increase the risk of material cracks and unwanted distortion of the holes during the drawing process. Precise control of the process parameters is therefore essential.
Challenge
The commercially available, grid-like perforated plate is to be produced inexpensively as a series part. By means of industrial forming in the deep-drawing process, the perforated sheet grids can be produced accurately and cost-effectively even in medium quantities.
The difficulty lies in the stress on the material during the drawing process. Due to the thin design (base plate with 1mm thickness) and the close arrangement of the small holes, there is a risk of material cracks and undesirable, excessive distortion of the holes.
Solution
We manufacture perforated sheets of the highest quality using optimised drawing tools and carefully coordinated process parameters in the deep drawing process. Our innovative manufacturing approach minimises material cracks and distortion, even with thin sheets and complex hole patterns. After deep drawing, the intake grilles are precisely cut and finished using state-of-the-art 3D laser technology. This guarantees precisely fitting, durable and cost-efficient components that meet the high demands of the industry.
